Gingival / Gum Grafting
Gum recession is a common dental issue that can give the appearance of elongated teeth and may lead to increased sensitivity.
Several factors can contribute to gum recession, including excessive bite forces, strong muscle pull, and periodontal inflammation.
In some cases, minimally invasive techniques can effectively treat areas of gum recession, helping to cover exposed tooth surfaces and alleviate sensitivity.
Importantly, a donor site is not always necessary for treatment. Instead, we can use collagen membranes and bone grafting materials within the gums to promote root coverage.
The part of the tooth that is usually covered by the gums tends to be darker in color compared to the enamel-covered portion above the gum line.
